Arlington Olympics Round Up 🎖️

What a day we had yesterday at Arlington Olympics! A warm, sunny day filled with free events, lots of laughter, team-building moments and huge cash prizes. Many different companies took part (Idox, Concurrent Technologies, Plaion, PSemi and Spaces) and shared funny memories. It was an all-round successful, enjoyable day for everyone involved! ☀️

Many different events took place: noodle javelin throwing, egg and spoon races, 3-legged races, nerf gun alley, hoopla and the almighty tug of war to finish! Noodle javelin throwing measured strength and ability to judge the direction of the noodle on a rather windy day! Some stand-out competitors reached the furthest distance, winning 10 points per throw! Egg and spoon races mirrored the fun of school sports days as competitors were filled with nostalgia. The 3-legged race provided the most laughs with many light tumbles and different strategies (including a piggy back!) being used over the course of the day. Everyone enjoyed crossing the red finish line, however they got there, in impressively short times!

Nerf gun alley was a fan favourite with competitors using all their concentration to knock down the tin cans. Many got over 7 knocked down after getting the knack of it! Hoopla proved a challenge and was much harder than expected. However, some excelled and managed to get 3 rings on the cone by the end of the day! The infamous tug of war ended the events with teams battling to get the rope over the line. Different strategies and tactics were used and strong teamwork helped both teams to put up a good fight!

Some stand-out moments were Alex from Spaces impressive 30 points on the noodle javelin throwing, Amer and Ahmed from CCT’s speedy 3-legged race in 4.68 seconds and a big win in tug of war by team CCT, even after being challenged to a rematch!

Overall, there were 3 worthy competitors who won the cash prizes. In 3rd place was Stuart from Plaion who’s big score of 20 in javelin throwing secured him £50! In 2nd place was Youssef from CCT who’s accuracy in the hoop throwing won him £75! In 1st place, and a most-deserving winner, was Ben from Plaion who’s consistency across all events (and a stand-out performance in 1-on-1 tug of war) won him the biggest prize of the day – £100! All competitors had an exciting day and our winners were thrilled with their prizes! 🥇🥈🥉👏
